The Perfect Lightweight, Customizable, Field-Friendly Compute/Storage Solution for Secure Autonomous Vehicle and Basestation Communications
LCR Embedded Systems is pleased to announce the general availability of its Featherweight COM Express Compute/Storage solution. Weighing in at a SWaP-friendly 7.5lb, designed specifically for demanding field applications, and featuring COM Express technology, LCR Embedded Systems’ fully integrated, forced convection cooled, customizable, featherweight COM Express Single Board Computer System breaks new ground for demanding applications that require lightweight, rugged, compact compute and storage such as harvesting and streaming sensor and video data in the field.
“Customers have already begun to ask us about this system and are eager to use it for a variety of military and emergency response field applications,” said LCR Embedded Systems President David Pearson. “From use as a portable basestation for citywide emergency response to secure, encrypted streaming data dissemination from multiple UAVs, this system is extremely well-suited to any highly mobile, data-intensive field application.”
The Featherweight COM Express System features a 6th generation Intel Xeon Core i7 (Skylake) Mobile Server/Embedded processor with up to 32GB DDR4 memory, and dual DisplayPort outputs. An optional Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) provides additional DisplayPort/HDMI options, and HD video processing support. The system also includes removable and expandable storage up 32 Terabytes
The system can ship with or without a choice of operating systems supported by LCR Embedded Systems, such as Red Hat Linux, Ubuntu, and others depending on licensing. Wireless/WiFi communications can be supported, as well as customizable I/O to support a variety of inputs, connections, or displays.
In addition to this system, LCR Embedded Systems also offers SWaP-friendly sensor management systems suited to intense video/image/data processing as well as high-performance stationary and portable enclosures for fixed or mobile ground stations, providing complete end-to-end solutions for Unmanned Autonomous Systems.
